New one on me

California is not the most gay-friendly place in the world. To this guy, California is probably San Francisco, which is (geographically) a teeny city in a huge state. It's about twenty-eight million people spread over lots of farmland, lots of suburb and lots of retirement communities. Shoot, gay marriage was legal in two other states first.

The argument is new to me and really weird. Marriage is only good if no one else has the limited power of attorney. The implicit belief that human rights are a zero-sum game is pretty baffling.

Denying marriage is a much bigger violation in the states, though, because the way our health care works.
