Books 2009: 50

50. Anthony Price, Colonel Butler's Wolf.

Another 1970s British spy/crime novel, this one revolving around potential Soviet infiltration of the Oxford-Cambridge-Civil Service triangle. It's a very clever book, and very well done: I also appreciated the fact that Col. Butler's cover required him to impersonate an academic - a Roman siege warfare specialist taking a tour of Hadrian's Wall. Insert Roman archaeology geek joy here. :)
