That Revolutionary War book sounds really interesting. That's pretty much what I learned in my honors US History class in high school - but I know that's not how it's often taught in schools. Although, even my class did gloss over the whole working/lower classes role in the revolt and occasionally conflated the middle class and the gentry. Which is interesting, because our teacher made a big deal of pointing out that the Constitutional Convention was essentially a coup. I guess focusing on the class aspects of it all would have sounded to communist maybe?
