I'm a fan of Marxist analysis in history books - Marxist and feminist theory are such very useful analytical tools - and I'm biased towards social histories anyway. Harvey doesn't actually go into very much detail on this as I might like, since he's more interested in the military aspects and the personalities of the military commanders, but just enough to make me realise how little I know about the dynamics of the founding of the American nation.
