that definitely sounds interesting, thank you.

Also, I am noting which teahouses to take you to when you get to Montreal.

I really liked it. It has a number of flaws, but it's fun.

Mmm, tea. A friend of mine sent me some Mighty Leaf teabags just before I went away. It is nice to have a selection. :)

Menstruation affects women's magic powers? How original.

Ain't it just?

I'd love to see a story where it makes their magic stronger. After all, blood rituals are considered very powerful in magic and in real life, too -- blood oaths, etc. I've found one story like that so far, about Excalibur being forged using "tainted" (aka menstrual) blood, rather than "clean" blood from a vein, hence its power and geasa.

Don't get my hopes up. :P

Your review made me curious, so I read the first chapter, available online. I assume/hope it gets better? Because what I read was a thicket of clichés with zero plot movement.

I liked it. It has a bunch of first novel structural problems, but I'm a sucker for decent sword-and-sorcery.
