That's another good book. (I read it before I went to Thessaloniki, two? two-and-some years ago, thinking I should know something more about where I was going to be spending a month.) I've occasionally wished he might do something similar to Salonica for the Morea - finding readable English-language histories of Greece is a bit touch-and-go, to say the least.
