Help, please?

The laptop has been returned to me, and will now turn on and charge. Both of these major improvements.

I would be all joy at this occurence, believe me. Except for the little fact that my little laptop can't detect wireless networks when in the same room as the router, and asks me to be sure that the wireless switch is turned on, or some such.

So I'm asking - no, begging - any of the more tech-savvy folks out there; what's a wireless switch, how do I find it, and how do I turn it on?

Please?

ETA: Some fiddling has resulted - marvel of marvels - in the discovery that the Fn and F1 keys, pressed together, restore wireless functionality. Am I the last person in the world to learn this?

No, you aren't the last person to learn that. I just learned it from you. *g*

I'm glad you got the laptop back and figured this out.

I feel much less embarrassed now. :)

It's absolutely great to have the laptop back. Now I can once again migrate from room to room according to conditions of light, warmth, interest and comfort, rather than staying at my desk. ;)

...and I just learned it too. Imagine that -- I'm just not geeky enough. Who knew?

::scribbles note to self::

I hope I don't forget this one. Function and F1, them's the keys.

Well, this works at least for a Packard Bell Easynote with a Ralink Turbo Wireless LAN card. Not sure if it's a general or specific thing, and right now I'm just glad I don't have to find out!

:)

Oh, I'll probably end up having to read the manual if I should ever run into the same problem.

At least my PDA wireless is easy to find and turn on/off. If only wireless access were the same!

If only. :)
