So last night, there was socialising.

Fortunately, despite the fact I knew nobody, it turned out to be the kind of crowd where one does not need to try to pass for normal. (Friends, I can has them.)

This morning, climbing. I have a licence to use the wall now. Fear me!

...Sooo sleepy now. And hungry. Maybe I should get food and curl up by fire?

climbing :-) Very Cool. And I too had the lovely and alas rare experience of going to function last night and falling in with my sort of odd people (a vet who reads sf and mech engs who likes working out things could work.) I'd forgotten how much I miss face-to-face not needing to explain...

Yes. well rural is... rural. Farming and the weather, sport (cricket or rugby) and maybe TV. Anything like is the nature of history conservative or intrinsically divergeant (positing an alternate universe for alternate history) or whether you could tailor environments in terraforming with bacteria making use of exponenial growth to alter the time-frame normally refered to... and you have people edging away from you and smiling nervously. I like living out here, but it's not easy to find like-mind companions to talk to.
