Dear comrades, a fortunate event

Your humble correspondant has received preliminary confirmation that in the coming academic year she will be in receipt of a SCHOLARSHIP from the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences, said scholarship alleged to be valued at ENOUGH MONEY TO LIVE ON.

Until receipt of final confirmation, yr. correspondant takes leave to continue to FRET and WORRIT, although to a degree much reduced by this most welcome notice of relief.

I'll put the kettle on.

::is cautiously enthusiastic::

I'm WHEEEEEEEE!

I just have to fret about the time between now and first paycheque, and the intervening Damn Paperwork. :)

Well, yay! That's such good news. Enough to live on, huh? What will they think of next...?

Now write out "correspondent" two dozen times, while drinking celebratory beer.

[identity profile] hawkwing-lb.livejournal.com 2012-07-16 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Make fun of my imaginative spelling, will you, sirrah? For shame! (I am afraid I have been reading scanned uncorrected 18th century things. It has rubbed off. But much like guarantee, my "correspondent" has always been irregular.)

:D

Oh, that is wonderful. I am so happy for you! Well-deserved.
Does happy dance for Liz

[identity profile] hawkwing-lb.livejournal.com 2012-07-16 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
*dances happily*

I'm ecstatic, myself. Ecstatic! There is paperwork in my future, but then there may be relief from the most pressing anxieties. :)

[identity profile] stillnotbored.livejournal.com 2012-07-16 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
::highfive:: Yes!! I reserve the right to celebrate until the cows come home.

Having just had my own last minute moment of relief? I can so relate.

[identity profile] between4walls.livejournal.com 2012-07-16 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Huzzah, huzzah! Yr. correspondent in the wilds of Russia offers her felicitations, being MUCH CHEERED to hear of the GOOD TASTE and SOUND JUDGMENT evinced by said Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences (and humbly prays that the recipient will satisfy her curiousity as to "scanned, uncorrected 18th century things." The style is indeed infectious.) It is of course most pleasing to see MERIT REWARDED, especially if the result tends towards the furtherance of SCHOLARSHIP.

or

Yaaaaaaay! Congrats!

[identity profile] hawkwing-lb.livejournal.com 2012-07-16 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Being much entertained by your late message, yr. humble servant begs you will accept her most sincere thanks, and is pleased to inform you that the "18th century things" aforementioned are in fact the most antique issues of the Dublin Freeman's Journal and Dublin Evening Post, not neglecting also Arthur Young's Tour of Ireland, and de Latocnaye's A Frenchman's Walk through Ireland, with which yr. correspondent has diverted herself in the cause, not to say, of Research, but rather of Personal Amusements concerning the history of her own SADLY LAMENTED COUNTRY.

Or,

Thanks! :D

[identity profile] endlessrarities.livejournal.com 2012-08-02 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not going to launch forth with numerous 'huzzahs' just wait - I'll wait for the formal confirmation. But that sounds really promising!!!

[identity profile] hawkwing-lb.livejournal.com 2012-08-02 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Formal confirmation happened the morning before I got on a plan to Athens. Now I am being anxious that the college Research Office will sign off on all the rest of the paperwork before the deadline, so I can HAVE MY MONEY.

Um.

Not that I am desperate for it, or anything.

....Well, okay, maybe a little desperate.

[identity profile] endlessrarities.livejournal.com 2012-08-02 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Huzzah, huzzah, HUZZAH!!!!

I think you've got every right to be desperate, in the circumstances....

Hope you're having a great time in Greece!!

Being eaten alive. Again.
