(no subject)
Aug. 24th, 2005 12:45 amI'm going to have to stop writing into the next morning. That is to say, I
should start writing at some point before noon. Then I would not end up
finishing at ungodly hours.
This would be achieveable if the construction work less than 20 metres away
from my window did not drive me nearly crazy between the hours of 8am and 5
pm.
And oh. I realised that I don't know how to write a novel. But I'm going to
keep trying anyway. Maybe I'll learn something.
Heh.
Progress report for Tuesday August 23, 2005:
Dreamdark
new words: 1,541
total words: 13,841
Pilotsspiesthingy
new words: 360
total words: 5,217
Alusind
I'm taking a break from this one for tonight. I have about 1,000 in MS
wordcount, and I want to think about the world this is in, and where it's
going. It's fine to have images and characters mug you and demand to be put
on paper, but I think I might need to explore this world from a smaller angle
first.
And nail down at least an idea of a plot. Which is where I run into
problems with Dreamdark, too. Although in Alusind the problem
is that I don't have even a fuzzy idea of a working plot, whereas in
DD, I think I might have too much. Look! Horror! Sharp-fanged plot bunnies
are breeding!
Pilots, at least, seems to be coming to me in character bits. My main
character knows the plot, but she's only telling me in dribbles. Very
vivid dribbles, but still only need-to-know.
Did I mention her backstory has her as a former spy? I probably shouldn't be
surprised that she tends to go cryptic on me when it comes to revealing the
details.
Sigh. Must. Go. To. Bed.
Now.
Yes. This now.
