That's one assignment down, and a plan for the next one.

I'll do work on the Qum'ran essay tomorrow, but I'm really damn glad I have an extension for it. Because when I was planning my Great Plans for Getting Shit Done?

...I kind of forgot that this week we have four extra-curricular lectures, attendance at one of which is not voluntary, and at the three others is the kind of voluntary attendance where you are Volunteered. Period.

I'm promised they'll at least be interesting, though. Hopefully as interesting as today's archaeology lecture, the title of which was 'Looking at Sex'. (In Greek vase painting. Get your minds out of that gutter.) Man, those Greeks? Were really into phalluses. Some interesting sociological theories about form and function, too. (Of the images. Not the phalluses.)

The govt. gave me monies today. On time. This trend would be disturbing, if it were not so welcome.

Tonight, running and climbing. Treadmill running: 2 miles in 25 minutes (1 mile in 10.5 minutes), pushing myself as hard as I can. That is, alternating running at 7 or 7.5mph with walking at 3mph, and damn, but that hurts. (I have good muscle, but poor wind. Hopefully this will improve.)

Climbing. I conquered an overhang. My very first. Which makes two routes I can send (or have sent) now.

Then, of course, buoyed by my success, I tried a new route. And proceeded to fall off less than a third of the way up. Then tried the overhang that has been reliably defeating me at the exact same spot since day one. No change.

And after that, wore my fingertips to nothing practising technique. (I understand the technique. But the grip strength and upper body strength, I do not have. Also, I need to get actual proper climbing shoes when I can afford them (maybe by next giftmas, if I'm lucky) and see if that makes a difference.) Possibly there are blisters.

However, comma, the handsome postgrad boy from the Netherlands (no, I didn't mention him before, but he's lovely and I'm more than half in lust on the basis of three conversations and two evenings alternating belay with him - whoops, did I really just type that?) belayed me and gave good advice. So despite the fact I now have an appalling ache in my shoulderblades (not as bad as last week, but then, at least this time there was less pathetic dangling) and fingertips, I'm calling this evening an overall win.

Two and a half weeks till end of classes. (Two weeks, three days.) And then I'm on my own recognisance till May 24. Maybe in the intervening period I can actually get properly fit and well-read for my five little exams. (I am so. glad. that one of my courses is continuous assessment this year.)

Two essays and one short report left to do. And then, oh joys! it's all over bar the screaming. :)
