Quote of the Day
Dec. 10th, 2009 12:01 amNon sum uni angulo natus, patria mea totus hic mundus est. - Seneca, Epistulae Morales 28.4
The interesting but incomprehensible Stanford lectures are over, and I am richer by much bafflement, and one quote.
I admire people who do classical literature, I really do. But I think they are like unto a different species of human.
#
Tomorrow night there is a talk on the archaeology of ceramics and food in the medieval Mediterranean. I think I shall go. But before then I shall finish writing my presentation - which is about half done - on the Jewish politeuma at Heracleopolis.
#
And after that, it is back to the thesis. I have promised a draft by the return of classes, January 18: my personal deadline in January 7. That's seven thousand words to be written inside four weeks, and the resulting twelve thousand word monster to be pummelled into a shape that makes sense outside my head. Oh noes. Oh woes.
And after that, I need to work on a research proposal for the M. Litt programme. Oh noes. Oh woes. Oh waily waily.
