Books 2010: 82-83
82-83. Patrick O'Brian, Treason's Harbour and The Far Side of the World.
The perfect books. It took me more than a year to come back to O'Brian, but the wait was worth it, and a more perfect set of seafaring adventures it is hard to imagine.
They are, alas, somewhat less self-contained than his earlier books. A couple of dangling plotlines imply further intrigues to come, and I am looking forward to what happens next.
Although it may take me some time to locate the next books.
I am glad to have decided today is a day of rest. I may in fact be weak, and need one.
