Books 2012: I am so very tired right now
Jul. 31st, 2012 09:20 pmBooks 2012: 136-137
136. Kevin Hearne, Tricked. Del Rey, 2012.
Another lightweight Druid adventure, this time on a Navajo reservation. Entertaining but not compelling.
137. Josephine Tey, Miss Pym Disposes. Arrow, 2010/1946.
A delightfully English little book, with a mystery at the very end. Alas for the residual racism: the few explicit moments of ugliness did not quite ruin my appreciation of it, but it does linger like an unpleasant aftertaste.
Not enough to stop me from getting other books of hers, though. Especially since she left her estate to the National Trust, which helps preserve old buildings in Britain. As an archaeologist, I support this.
Athens is hot. And the tree outside my window seems to be full of cicadas.
