Date: 2009-02-26 02:39 pm (UTC)You can start trad (because that's SCARY. And even more exhausting. And just SO satisfying) Grades (Ewbank) typically go top rope = top grade. Bolted lead = top gade -1 (or 2). Trad lead = top grade -2 (to 4 depending on trad experience and skill). On sight lead = top grade -3 (or more depending on trad experience and skill). Opening onsight trad = top grade - 5. So if you are top rope climbing 24 or french 7A - opening a new 19 or 6B will push you if you protect it properly (particluraly if runners are hard to place).
It is absolutely wonderful.
And only a climber would understand what I mean.
I am very sorry we cannot climb something with you in Ireland. Maybe next time.
