Dear "Bones",

Ground penetrating radar does not work like that.

I realise I have never watched your show before, and this being season five, possibly I am missing the fact that it is supposed to take place in an alternate reality where GPR is and does something else entirely to what it does in this reality.

Nevertheless. Does not work like that.

Yours,

A viewer who may not, actually, watch to the end of the episode.

ETA: On the other hand, the bit with the feral cats munching on corpse? Kind of made of win.

I am normally a very tolerant viewer of television improbabilities. And I can stretch an improbability a long way.

Outright impossibilities, on the other hand?

Well. Sigh.

*still watching, because otherwise would have to Work*

[livejournal.com profile] grillghod tends to mutter whenever shows use medical imaging equipment in improbable ways. Nevr mind when they say they are ordering an MRI then show a CT machine or an MRI with some other kind of display.

lol. I watched my first two episode of Bones for the first time this week (yay! for dvrs) and OMG. it had me going wth? several times.

Like why did both episodes feature people being blown up in cars? Is this a common theme or just random scheduling? And why in the freakin' world did Bones and Booth enter the house of a suspected bomber alone in order to apprehend him? They didn't think they needed SWAT? Or, you know, anyone else that could check for explosive material?

And what is with the holographic display? I can deal with NCIS LA's super huge touchscreen because while I think it's unlikely that they would spend the money on that, it's semi-close to real life while also letting us easily see everything at once. But...holograms aren't even the most useful way of displaying the information the team is looking at, for them or for us. It just looks all super high tech and cool.

*avoids medical shows*

*like plague*

I'm kind of fortunate. Mostly when people commit gross indecency upon history or archaeology, it's in the service of bigger and better explosions (or the pre-gunpowder equivalent).

I'm okay with bigger explosions. :)

I'm only watching because I'm too tired to work or read, and not tired enough to sleep yet.

Ye gods, it's stupid. But the woman who calls everyone cherie is at least entertaining. And! Cats eating corpses!

You beat me to it. I once laughed at a print advertisement for GE because it was supposedly about their MRI, but showed photos of radiographs and CT scans. Don't you love the magic MRI that take images in seconds? Quietly?

Ah, the suspension of disbelief can go only so far.
