Today, I wrote five hundred words of something completely new, and it felt - easy. No pain at all. No effort.
I go to write on The Project, and what happens? Two thousand words, some of them recycled, and it's like pulling teeth. I'm still not near the interesting deaths yet; but tomorrow, hopefully, I shall pass the 10,000-word mark. Milestone. After that, there's only 90K more to go, with 20K allowed for over-runs (which should then be later removed, but we'll deal with that when I get there).
The Ick is almost gone. I jogged a few stumbling steps today, demonstrating to myself that my fitness levels have gone to shit. Tomorrow, perhaps, we use the gym and really see how unhealthy we are. (Not very healthy, precious, not very healthy at all.)
2500 words approximately today. Still 1000 short of the daily goal, and that's not counting the 500 words that went on the other project. So 1500 words short of today's goal.
(I have to be careful about setting these impossible goals. The day I actually reach them, I'll have to raise the bar again)
Progress, Wednesday 14 December 2005:
"Dreamdark, or, the Confused-Title Story"
New words: 2067
Previous words: 6207
Total relevent words: 8284 (No, this does not match up. Free words!)
Words typed: 2067
Total relevent typed words: 8284
Old-and-now-irrelevant-but-I'm-still-counting-them words: c. 20,000
Total words: c. 28,284

Words left (#1): 91,716
Words left (#2): 111,716
Unpleasant things that characters were subjected to: Elise gets more bad news, and confuses herself with politics. Tamar gets to see her mother, who isn't entirely happy with her.
The real "Dreamdark":
"Dreamdark" and Ye Olde and Abandonned Drafte:
words1: 954
words2: 1113
words3:475 (different project)
wordstotal: 2542
I thought the present would be a good time for me to summarise all the weird stories, novel-ideas and settings that are swimming around in my head. Then I realised that I'd have to go look up all my lists and scraps and notes and memos-to-self: there are too many of them,
(Aagh! The voices! The voices!)
at least twenty, if not more.
(The voices! Help! Somebody help me!)
So that's an undertaking that'll have to wait for some more propitious time.
The brackets, btw, are a joke. I really don't need help *g*.
