Shortly I will reach a point where I have no words from a previous attempt to tide me over and make my wordcount look respectable. There will be a wailing and a gnashing of teeth -

I am fast approaching the point where I usually say Why the hell am I doing this anyway? and give up. This has been a fault which has plagued me lo these long years. I mean, why am I doing this? It's not like I have anything interesting to say, or am any good at saying it.

I don't have nuffin' but a head full of people as won't. SHUT. UP.

Since they won't shut up, I write about them. And then comes the point where it all starts to feel like too much bloody hard work, my head starts to feel all crimped and full of cotton wool, and I become possessed of the conviction that I am incapable of stringing together a simple sentence so that it makes sense, much less a whole novel!

Self, you are hereby enjoined: stop feeling sorry for yourself and do the bloody work. Just do it. You have to finish something before you can start getting better. Once you finish one novel, you'll know you can finish another one.

Do the bloody work, alright? Self doubt ist verbotten! Interdit! Défendu! Completely forbidden!

Enough of it already.

Today, bought and read When Demons Walk, Patricia Briggs. Liked. Sort of Mercedes Lackey-like in tone, but somewhat darker. Preferred. Found it as a singleton in FP, orphaned from any other books by said author. Why are there not more such bookses to be found in Dublin?

Am now eliding personal pronouns, and should. Go. To. Bed.
