You know, one of these days I should carve out a space of time and catalogue my nonfiction and fiction what-is-not-for-the-primary-purpose-of-entertainment (research) books.
I know exactly how many fiction books I possess: after the Great Reorganisation (now mostly lost to memory except as a time of much dust, paint, and dust) I did up a catalogue for it which I've been religious about keeping up to date. (1391, if anyone's wondering. Yes, I do have a slight addiction problem.)
That time predates my ownership of large numbers of nonfiction books kept for the purposes of researches wide and varied. And until now, I did not consider I had possession of a large enough number to make the keeping of a catalogue worthwhile.
But yesterday I realised that more than two entire bookshelves, cumulatively, are now Research Only. (Oxford and Penguin Classics are my bane and my salvation.) This is a Fearful Realisation. Something Must Be Done!
Next year. Maybe. It's not like I have time right now.
