Hey, just because I used to compete doesn't mean I was any good:-)
I used to ride 10 and 25 mile time trials. I got my 10 time down to 25.50 or thereabouts, but couldn't get under 1hr 12 for the 25.
I did one road race, came last, but because there were only two ladies competing, I wound up being promoted to a 3rd Cat. Which was a big slap in the face for the boys in the local chain gang, including my hubby, who'd been competing in road races for years and were still fighting to be made 3rd cats in many cases.
My highlight was coming 2nd in the Scottish Forest Mountain Bike Series in 1999, I think it was. I rode three out of four races and got the prize through sheer persistence.
Ah, those were the days... The only prizes I could win these days are for cake-eating and coffee-appreciation...
