It's more than slightly appalling to me how many names from D&D books I read as a kid were just blatantly stolen from Greek place names. (The Grand Duchy of Karameikos was the default setting of Basic D&D, and of course Mystra was the goddess of magic in the Forgotten Realms.)
Admittedly, I named a deliberately Roman-influenced elven empire 'Quirinalis' on a MUD I worked on, without any conscious knowledge of the Quirinal Hill. Still and all.
Anyway, it sounds like you're having a lovely trip, aside from the heat and associated muzzy-headed exhaustion. I hope things continue to go as well or better than expected.
