hawkwing_lbYesterday,I discovered a wonderful thing. Hodges Figgis bookshop in Dublin stocks and will order in US editions of books! What's more, Roc, Ace and Baen are noticeably less expensive than books out of the UK.
In honour of this marvellous discovery, I committed purchases. Marie Brennan's Doppelganger, Rob Thurman's Nightlife, and S.M. Stirling's Conquistador came home with me to join my To Be Read shelf. I'm waiting on re-orders of E.E. Knight's Way of the Wolf and Stirling's The Peshawar Lancers. And now, internets, I ask you: what should I ask them to get in for me next? What has come forth in recent months, years, decades, that should be read? For I now have a paycheck and an obliging bookseller within reach.
On order from Amazon: Bear's Blood and Iron and The Chains That You Refuse; Monette's The Virtu; Lee & Miller's Crystal Dragon; Kushner's The Privilege of the Sword, and Carey's Godslayer. Asking the bookshop for these, not so much, but what else?
Of course, no good news is complete without bad news. I cannot access my Amazon account page, my gmail, or my yahoo groups. Shitsville, says I with feeling.
