Hrm. THE PRIVATE LIFE OF JANE MAXWELL worked really well for me right up until the end: the Claire/Amy resolution made me very uneasy.

On the other hand, it's billed as "book one", so maybe it's about to recomplicate on me.

(Oh yeah, current reading matter you can look forward to, or not, next year: THE MONSTER BARU CORMORANT. I'm not far enough in to offer a verdict other than, the writing is brilliant but so harrowing I can only manage a chapter every couple of days.)

It was really interesting until that point, which... it's very comic book, and at least it was consensual? But yeah, uneasy.

...considering I couldn't read THE TRAITOR BARU CORMORANT because I don't have a high enough tolerance for That Kind Of Tragic/Moral Compromise, I don't know whether I can look forward to it...
