Another day closer
Jul. 27th, 2005 12:09 amWordcount goal (1000 words+) achieved. 9,300 words now. Nearly 8% done.
I feel so proud :-).
But there's this other story that's nudging around my backbrain, determined to steal thinking time from the other one. It's been knocking around for a while now (six months? a year? a mutation of something that started much longer ago?) and begun to be insistent this last month. So I've decided. Every day I exceed my wordcount goal for the day by more than 100 words, I'm going to write 200 or more words of This Other Thing. Which can't make up its mind whether it's near or farther future SF, wants to be written in first and third person as well as present and past tenses, and wants to include ruthless secret agents, unscrupulous (and scrupulous) politicians, and high-flying daredevil pilots, all of which I know very little about.
Oh, well. Nobody ever said trying to be a writer would be easy. Or simple. Or stress-free.
In fact, they all told the opposite story. So I'm stubborn. What else is new?
