Keep on keepin' on
Jul. 30th, 2005 05:14 pmThe thing about writing I have to remember is: KEEP WRITING.
That's right. Right now I have around 14000 words. Not bad for ten days' work. What I need, though, is to keep the momentum going, something I never quite managed before.
This time I'm using a trick. This time, I'm working on another project at the same time, one that calls to me with the shiny newness of Fresh Idea, one that allows my dull brain the chance to giggle and stretch and rub its hands in the anticipation that's worn off the main track.
See, I tell myself, you can can work a little on this AFTER you get your 1200 words on the main track. If you don't, you don't get to play.
Carrot, meet stick. Stick, meet carrot.
I hope the carrot stays shiny and new for the next hundred days.
