I hate St. Patrick's Day
Mar. 18th, 2008 10:50 amI say this a day late, because I was too full of hate and weariness yesterday to even turn on the internet and bear that much human interaction:
I hate St. Patrick's day. I hate its arrant nationalism, its go-us tribalism, its self-congratulatory community participation, and the plain idiocy of drunken celebration when there is so much the fuck wrong with this country.
I hate it also because it reminds me that to the classes who make up our political representatives, I'm invisible, my concerns are invisible, and very likely will be, if not always, for a very long time yet.
#
Yesterday, my body and brain mounted a mutiny and refused to let me get work done. *sigh* It is a pain to possess female anatomy sometimes, yes, it is.
So I curled up in a chair, ate chocolate, and read four books that had nothing to do with college. I feel slightly better today, but you know what? I think college can take a flying leap till tomorrow.
