By the rivers dark, I panicked on
Mar. 19th, 2008 08:46 pmI believe that I have narrowly avoided a chimney fire of the kind actually requiring a fire brigade.
But, oh, the excitement of the last fifteen minutes.

Date: 2008-03-20 07:47 pm (UTC);-) Fire is scary. That's why they put three of us on one line and three on another line, and we all walked into the maw of the propane jets to turn off the fire at the valve. That was graduation night. I remember crouching lower and lower to hide behind less and less water.
Moving along now. You youngsters, always playing with matches.

Date: 2008-03-21 01:51 am (UTC)Fun times. My father's been very careful about chimneys since then, and both parents are still active members of the fire department. My mother, the pyromaniac! The coolest part is when the grandkids get to climb into the trucks at the firehouse. ;-)
