Second day in a row of 20+ Celsius temperatues. I'm still pinching myself.

Got up and went to karate today for the first time in many months. It seems the more exercise I do, the more I want to do, as long as it's different sorts of exercise, ones that work different sets of muscles.

I'm fitter than I used to be, I think: I definitely broke a sweat, but either the class was easier than they used to be, or I have better wind. I haven't lost as much technique as I was afraid of, either. It'll be a few weeks before I'm back into a decent level of competence, but I'm optimistic.

The main emphasis today was takedowns and kihon. I'm going to have to free up my Saturdays in order to get to the kata classes. Well, I wasn't using them for much, anyway.

After karate, went for a nice long walk on the beach, up to the broken 17th century pier and the 4,000-year-old, uninvestigated passage tombs. It was so warm I had to change into shorts first, though.

It really has been an incredibly good day. And I am promised Chinese for dinner, too. So that makes it even better.

:-) I noticed Dublin was warmer than us. We were 12 max today here - you were 21.

And how is the view from winter?

:)

(Also, if you remove the references to temperature, that second sentence of yours becomes incredibly funny. But then, the sun works odd miracles on my sense of humour.)

Chuckle. I've been 12 going on 60 for most of my life. well... the sixty part happened when I was was 17 and found myself in the army and dealing with things 12 year olds don't handle too well. But being 12 has upsides on being 21. It's cooler. And the mountains are bleak and beautiful, trailed with snow.

One day I should visit South Africa. Or some other place with mountains. :)

Well, if we're still here, you'd be very welcome. I'll deputise the boys to show off the mountains, cliffs and diving and whitewater. Barbara and I will be content with being taxi-service and food supply - you sound too energetic for us ;-). You can cope with hyper 20 year olds who think 18 routes a day is a soft day and like to argue about determinism vs free will while they do so? (yes. they ARE proof that genetics are God's way of showing he has a sense of humour)

Very generous of you to offer. And if I can afford to travel after I take my degree in 2010, I may well take you up on it. :)

I can cope with philosophy. (I took a course of theology while atheist, after all.) Whether I could cope with hyper-climbing 20-year-olds is another question, though. I'm only just re-learning how to be energetic. :P
