I hate writing overviews. Statements of intent, bah.

The process looks a lot like this:

The aim of this thesis is to stun everyone with its brilliance.

Well, obviously. Can't put that in, though.

The aim of this thesis is to investigate

One sentence down. Asklepios Soter alone knows how long the rest of this will take.

Hee. I have a character (known as) Aesculepius, in the new book. I am not sure that he makes anybody better, at any point.

Notice that I am careful not to imply that any cure actually happened. :P

New book? (she inquired, innocently.)

Uh, yeah. Currently called House of Doors, currently to be published under my own name, for a wonder; from Severn House, at some indeterminate time in the probably-not-too-far-flung future.

Apparently my agent saw my editor today at the London Book Fair, and she's already read it and is making notes. I am ... unaccustomed to such promptness. It sort of gives me hope. I have a contract with the same publisher for another related book; what I can't remember is whether November is the delivery date for book 2, or the prospective publication date for book 1. Or even possibly both. My agent will know, I just have to remember to ask him.

Promptness! In publishing? You astonish me, sir: whatever is the world coming to?

(I will look forward to the turn of the year, in any case.)
