drink from the fountains of the fireworks

Via an anguished (angst-ridden) email to my tutor, dinner out in the company of friends, and an excellent evening lecture entitled "Hug a rock and shake a tree: shamanic bodies in Minoan culture?" I've passed through sick and down into better and much less down.
(I would like to state for the record, however, that despite the many good things that sometimes occur during this month, I hate February.)
Tonight, there was climbing. Much traversing was done first, and various fiddling about, followed by my first ever ascent (though quite cheaty) of the black 6a+. A yellow 6b, and a white 6c, were attempted and failed of most thoroughly, although I managed to finish the red 6a+ with some flailing and resting. Thereafter I proceeded to make flaily ascents of three 5s, and attempt one final grey 6a+, for which my hands were too sore to close properly around the hold at the top of the dyno move, and so I flailed my way down again.
The wall now has - finally! - grades up that appear to correspond to the level of difficulty of the routes, though. That's good. I'm a flaily 6a+ climber, now, mostly, it seems. 6bs are still a bit beyond me.
