This morning, his mouth was bleeding. It has since stopped, but he has a great big swollen bit just under his left whiskers, and when I finally got him to open his mouth, the inside of his left cheek is red and mangled with whitish-yellow bits in the flesh. (It was a very brief look, after which he struggled free of me and fled to hide under something.) This, despite the fact he's been on anti-biotics. This is leaving aside the yellow drool from the left side of the mouth.

While this is somewhat new, the last time we took him to the vet we were sent away with painkillers and anti-biotics. I suspect the vet is not as useful as I would like.

The cat is still eating, drinking, and purring, so I doubt death is imminent: but blood worries me.

Yes, it could be a resistant infection -- one antibiotic isn't the end of the story. I wish I were closer, geographically speaking.

It would be nice to have the opinion of someone whose personal competence I trusted, aye. I can't help thinking the poor creature - who is purring and rubbing around my ankles right now - expects me to make it better.

Will you be able to do something?
