.... It probably says something about me that my first instinct at the sound and flash of fireworks is to duck and look for cover, but I'm not sure what.

Heh, it's mine too. Partly from living in the city for my young life, and then from living in the country the rest of it. Hunting season, you know.

Yeah, but y'know, I've never even been near a gun (though this is set to change when they swear me in to the FCA), or even heard one going off. This is Ireland. No guns. Well, .22s, maybe. Rarely.

No danger. No threat.

Perhaps instinct? Sudden loud noises are supposed to make us nervous. Each time you do have that reaction, you reinforce it in your subconscious. Anyway, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
