I wrote a long post earlier about the books I've read so far this year, but LJ ate it.

Fiction:

Temeraire, Naomi Novik.
Sword of Orion: Book One of Beneath Strange Skies, Sharon Lee and Steve Miller.
Trickster's Choice, Tamora Pierce.
Wild Magic, Tamora Pierce.

Non-Fiction:

Magic in the Middle Ages, Richard Kieckhefer.

It was mostly waffle, along with a bit of an attempt to review said books, and me wondering why I'm reading Tamora Pierce and thinking, She's good, but not nearly complicated enough. :-)

I was recommended her years ago by a mad Potter-fan I used to know. I only picked up Trickster's Choice yesterday. Have you read anything by her, by any chance?

No, I hadn't gotten around to reading her stuff yet -- seen the books, looked at them, and moved on. Maybe I'll see if the library has them.

The two I've read so far have been pretty okay, in a YA-aimed fashion. Her website, http://www.tamora-pierce.com/about, has a good few excerpts, so.
