Books 2012: I am distract

First, my review of David Drake's The Road of Danger is live over at Tor.com.
Second...
55. Juliet E. McKenna, Darkening Skies. Solaris, 2011.
I wish I had a stronger reaction than "meh" to this book. It would make it easier to review, and I honestly don't like having lukewarm dislike for a novel. It makes me feel terrible.
In other news, approximately twenty minutes of moderately high intensity exercise this evening. Kata, for the most part. I am wondering if my bad ankle might like sprint training better than lengthy runs - my wind is shot, and that might be the best way to claw some back, maybe?
(My wind is shot partly from not training, and partly because ugh, the air quality here. Ugh.)

Date: 2012-04-04 09:04 am (UTC)Also thanks for the Jack Campbell recommendations a while back - I bought the first two Lost Fleet books in a charity shop last week for a £1 each, and now wish I'd bought all of them. Very entertaining.
It's sad, but reading 1970s sci-fi with no realistic female characters has left me so scarred that I still automatically disregard all SF by male authors. Habit of a lifetime. I need to break it.

Date: 2012-04-04 10:29 am (UTC)The Lost Fleet is crack. Popcorn, but great crack.
(If you're interested, most of the Drake series is available legally free online in a variety of formats, thanks to Baen's promos. That is, if you haven't read them all already...)
