From Dream to Dream by Arlene Golds
Pausing to tear a shuddering yet strangely silent breath from her uncooperative lungs, she glanced hurriedly at the hazy outlines of her surroundings. No longer did she retain any sense of direction...

I found it... educational.

Date: 2006-03-12 03:01 am (UTC)Even the anesthesia provided by several glasses of decent red wine* can't protect me from that.
"Happy Hour" at the neighbors, and quite a nice little time we had.

Happy Hour, hey? Sounds good. :-)

Date: 2006-03-12 04:26 pm (UTC)Off to the St. Paddy's parade* in DC, an extravaganza of ethnicities pretending alliance to the Emerald Isle, and a celebration that was begun in the USA long before the Irish ever marched on the saint's day. ;-) BTW, did you know that 33.7 million USians claim Irish ancestry? Me neither.
*No, I don't wear anything that requests kisses based on my ancestry, nor do I ever partake of food or drink that is colored green.

Date: 2006-03-13 03:24 am (UTC)Oddly enough, this year DJ suddenly decided that he liked corned beef -- which he has never done before -- so the little bugger got some of mine and I got some of his fish without the chips. This is the fate I suffer because I make him taste everything at least once. He'll thank me when he's grown and all. ;-)

Date: 2006-03-13 01:27 pm (UTC)A very sensible attitude towards (not-naturally) green food. :-)
(My attitude towards food: don't eat it if it's not a natural colour, and don't eat it if it's still moving. It's just not safe :-))

Date: 2006-03-13 11:47 pm (UTC)If it can, I had better re-think my priorities. More Purple, more sex, more confusion and much more baroque. Not that I have anything against sex and the baroque, of course, but sometimes - from the point of view of good taste*, if nothing else - less is definitely more.
Tell y'what, Dave: let's try and beat the Paragons of Purple (Unreadable) Prose at their own game. :-) You do the humour, I'll do the unreadable Purple Prose (tm), and submit it under someone else's name entirely to protect your good reputation :-).
(Yes of course I'm joking. :-) But you have to admit, it'd be a fun experiment...)
*I had an old-fashioned education. So sue me. :-)
