Plato, Apology 18b
Sep. 27th, 2012 03:44 pm[18b] ἐμοῦ γὰρ πολλοὶ κατήγοροι γεγόνασι πρὸς ὑμᾶς καὶ πάλαι πολλὰ ἤδη ἔτη καὶ οὐδὲν ἀληθὲς λέγοντες, οὓς ἐγὼ μᾶλλον φοβοῦμαι ἢ τοὺς ἀμφὶ Ἄνυτον, καίπερ ὄντας καὶ τούτους δεινούς: ἀλλ᾽ ἐκεῖνοι δεινότεροι, ὦ ἄνδρες, οἳ ὑμῶν τοὺς πολλοὺς ἐκ παίδων παραλαμβάνοντες ἔπειθόν τε καὶ κατηγόρουν ἐμοῦ μᾶλλον οὐδὲν ἀληθές, ὡς ἔστιν τις Σωκράτης σοφὸς ἀνήρ, τά τε μετέωρα φροντιστὴς καὶ τὰ ὑπὸ γῆς πάντα ἀνεζητηκὼς καὶ τὸν ἥττω λόγον κρείττω
For my many accusers have come near you also often in the season just past, speaking not a word of the truth: concerning them I for my part am more afraid than with respect to Anyton and the others, although they're also clever: but these are more clever, O men: they persuaded most of you from childhood and they alleged against me indeed nothing true, saying, "There is one Sokrates, a wise man, a deep thinker about airy phenomena, and one who has investigated all the things under the earth, and making the stronger speech lesser."
