I took the last few days off from the internet. It was good for me. I woke up alive today - and proceeded to spend the whole day cleaning. And when I say the whole day, I mean eight solid hours, during which I managed to clean my room.

You think perhaps I was slacking, but I have been living in filth for months and months and months. It took the full time to get the furballs and fluff and the accumulated... stuff... corralled and conquered.

Also I fixed the dryer vent with electrician's tape and beat out one of the house rugs. And visited the hardware place and the supermarket. So.

Now I am going to go fall over and sleep more.

Yay constructive house-cleaning days; I've been doing a fair bit of that kind of thing myself this last little bit, and it is oddly satisfying even for a lazy sod like me.

I don't believe in housework. But very rarely - like once every couple of years - I will wake up and see Oh sweet godless heavens the dust the dust the dust aieeeeeee!

Such a day was yesterday. *g*

I've been gutting the kitchen during the holiday period - it's the only time of year I have sufficient time to do it, and it's a lovely feeling...

I'm not sure I actually enjoy the process, but getting rid of the accumulated filth for however long I can keep it this way... that's a wee bit of a triumph.

I loathe the process - please note that in her day, my mother would have spent one whole day of her holidays gutting the kitchen, full stop!! My feeble attempts involve a cyclical gutting on a daily cupboard by cupboard or drawer by drawer basis, with the bulk of the work done first thing so I can a) p**s about, and b) feel smugly self-satisfied at progress through the rest of the day. I then footer about doing little silly tidying things in between writing, etc. the rest of the day. End result: I only get half a kitchen cleaned after two weeks, but my soul feels much better! And so probably does my stomach, because the key places end up cleaner than they were before.

As my mum's fridge magnet used to say, Boring Women Have Immaculate Homes!!!

Housework as displacement activity. Or repressed anger. :P

Hurrah for once-yearly ritual cleaning!

Not that I've ever tried it, but it sounds impressive...

Once-yearly? You wrong me. It has been three years since I hoovered under my bed.
