Swimming today

hawkwing_lbA light fog had rolled in. The sea was chill, just the right kind of chill to take the edge off a humid day without being cold, the colour of milky steel under drifting bands of mist. Just barely choppy enough to slap you in the face once or twice, so you'd know you'd been kissed, clear and pungent with salt. Perfect enough to make you cry.
A jellyfish sighting chased me out after only fifteen or twenty minutes, but god, that was glorious.

Date: 2014-07-17 06:03 pm (UTC)Although most people who haven't grown up swimming in the Irish Sea tend to think it's a mad endeavour - the highest water temperature, in August, is around 13-14C, and today's air temperature was under 20C under the fog. *g*
