show me something pretty
Jul. 4th, 2007 09:06 pmSo I've spent the last couple of days goofing off and doing nothing.
Well, nothing except for exercising. I finally - after the better part of eighteen months - went back to karate on Sunday. And went again, yesterday, after spending two hours in the gym.
Can we say, 'Ouch'?
I'm reassured that I seem to have regained some stamina, at least. But man. I think I just about exercised every freaking muscle in my body.
Amazon.com has been throwing up odd recommendations for me of late. I imagine it's because of the (immense) number of odd things I keep adding to the wishlist - I should probably stop doing that, but if I see something interesting, how else am I supposed to remember it?
In advance of my birthday, my mother got me a couple at random. So I'm happy to say that I've spent the last couple of days reading Jane Fletcher.
Books 99-100, Fiction 94-95
94. Jane Fletcher, Dynasty of Rogues.
Interesting light-hearted fantasy with some romance in it, and a nod to some SF elements. Not exactly heavy reading, and the prose is a little clunky at times, but definitely fun.
95. Jane Fletcher, The Exile and the Sorcerer.
Again, fairly light fantasy, with strong characters and an interesting set-up. I'd read more.
matociquala introduced me to this thing called Desktop Defense. It's very compelling.
