Evening - well, morning, if you're going to be picky. Most of the time I don't see the difference. I've been off-line for a couple of days, wrapped up in self-absorbtion and depression and the rest of the shit that usually attends exams - or at least, the waiting period just prior thereto - with the exception of a break on Friday night to see Kingdom of Heaven. I don't know why it got all those bad reviews. In my opinion, it was a great piece of cinema, one I'd see again. Orlando Bloom managed to be believeable in the title role - which is something, because I'll always think of that man as an elf. He does earnest and honorable particularly well, and stays convincing when covered in gore.

Brendon Gleeson was funny as the mad Templar leader. Also convincing. Freakily convincing. And Liam Neeson. What can one say about a brilliant actor, except that he deserved more screen time?

And Saladin and the Muslim army - let's just say I thought that on both sides even the worst of the soldiers were protrayed as better people than the religious fellows. Did someone want to make a point here, hmm?

Except for Jeremy Irons as the priest who was a friend to Neeson and Bloom's characters. It was Irons as that priest, wasn't it? What denomination was he? Dominican? Or do I have the wrong time period for that? (At least I know he couldn't be a Jesuit. Likewise Franciscan. They were founded around the time of the exploration of the Americas. I think.)

Study has been going - not well. Let's just say I'm hoping for high Cs and low Bs.

At this point, though, I'd settled for just a pass.

Anyway. Writing related news. I lost track of the number of pages I'd written. I think I've figured it out again now, though. Ten new since last I posted here. 2,500 words. I'm at the point where the shiny newness of the idea has worn off, and I'm actively questioning whether this is worth doing.
