You know, I might enjoy this thesis business, but today? I'd enjoy being home in front of the fire a lot more.

Winter appears to have arrived. For now.

Books 2009: 88-89

88. Elizabeth Bear, By the Mountain Bound.

Best book I've read this year. Gut-wrenchingly beautiful. Or maybe beautifully gut-wrenching. Also, very Norse. Very apocalyptic-y.

I think the only reason I didn't cry like a baby is because I already knew how it ended.

89. Ilona Andrews, On the Edge.

Definitely not even close to the best book I've read this year. I am sick of fantasy novels with romance in where the hero is an arsehole of immense proportions but! handsome! with! a! heart! of! gold!

Yeah. Still, the world-building was kind of nifty.
