Books 2009: I can finally see the sunset

91. Sharon Lee and Steve Miller, Fledgling.
I am entirely too fond of the Liaden novels. This is a new one, previously serialised in draft on the web and now published by Baen. It is a story about academics, and pilots, and spaceships, and growing up. I love it muchly, and look forward to its sequel with great joy.
I've been looking at my numbers of books read for the last couple of years. In 2007, I read 190 new books in the year; in 2008, 159. (By this time last year, I was already past my 130th book.) I don't think I'll achieve quite such a high measure this year.
On the other hand, I've done other stuff this year. And not had as many long plane flights.
