You know, I like going interesting places.

All the steps it takes to get there, though? They give me hives.

(In case you're wondering, I'm currently convinced I'm going to get lost somewhere between JFK and Grand Central Station. Convinced.)

It's okay. They speak a pigdin form of English here, and there are maps in every subway.

And they love Irish accents!

If you have to get lost in NYC, head over to Greenwich Village and find yourself some tea. Not as many bookstores as there used to be, alas.

Grand Central Station is grand.

I have a cross between a British and a Dutch accent. No, don't ask me how that happened. I've no idea.

Just lucky?

As a born- and partly-raised in the city New Yawker, I can say that you'll find plenty of friendly people to direct you in your travels. Even after an 8 hour trip on the plane. You have handled Paris, London, and Dublin; you'll handle New Yawk.

Even with the zombies. Just head north, and keep going. ;-)

Right. So there are zombies, then?

:P

I think we more commonly refer to them as "stockbrokers."

I can neither confirm nor deny this.

(My other grandmother was from northern Transylvania..)

oh, they are MASSIVE maps too. With all kids of pretty colors.

(also, ignore what they say about New Yorkers not being friendly. They are mostly just super-good at minding their own business and so tend to treat the people looking at maps more like obstacles than people. But if you see someone not-in-a-hurry and ask them a question, there is an extremely good chance they will be very helpful indeed.)

I did it not too long ago - it's not too bad. Signs are everywhere, and people are pretty friendly. :)

Sure. You say that. But what if America is full of zombies and they want to eat me?!

(I'm fairly certain it's unlikely. Still. You never know in these foreign places. *suspicious face* )

You CAN'T. Not if you get on a train or a bus. There are signs and signposts. HONESTLY.

I used to be afraid of New York. Am getting used to it now. But it's pretty easy not to get lost in Manhattan.

If I've managed to navigate London and Paris, any city laid out on a grid plan should be reasonably simple.

On the other hand, it's really easy to get lost after an eight-hour flight. :)

Not only is NYC laid out on a grid plan, but it has like, the mother of all landmarks to help you orient yourself.
